Archer30, ok, I see. Without WND zvslib.dll is drawing options window using Win32 API and custom font settings. It uses Windows fonts and do not load Heroes 3 fonts at all.
Igrik rewritten the dialog from scratch using Heroes 3 dialogs system. There each label/text must have H3 font name. "medfont" was small (?), so igrik used bigfont for main window.

igrik, для окна с приветствием medfont был слишком малым?

Ah, I see. Thanks Berserker. I believe igrik chose big font for home page as it has the best looking for Rus/Eng. Just for Chinese/Korean it looks a bit funny.
My medfont.fnt and smallfont.fnt come with Chinese plugin are exactly the same, although they have hzk12 and hzk10 for different Chinese character sets.

If I get to choose, the ideal font size in wog menu home page would be

Red -> Shrink to med font (is it the same as blue?)
Yellow -> Stay the same

Archer30, I think the main issue is that Chinese bigfont is too big. It must be much lower in pixels height as I see.
We need extra fonts/conversion tools to generate smaller fonts.

I agree with you Berserker, the 28x25 font is generally too big for most situation, although it comes from official Chinese SoD, and fits quite well specifically for places it's been used.

Can I ask if you have any idea how hzk files should be edited/made?

But I probably still need help from igrik. I mentioned that I tried to replace hzk24 with a duplicate of hzk12 in my post yesterday, and it did not end up well.
Support from WoG Native Dialogs seems to be required (or not?

Archer30, to solve the issue we need:
1) Fixed Chinese plugin font size detection.
2) Provide smaller alternative to current font.

As a quick and dirty solution igrik could compile wnd.dll with bigfont2.fnt string replaced with medfont2.fnt.

Berserker, hmmm the main concern is not sure whether the source code matches with the plugin we use. If you can kindly compile one from the source I will see if it has some obvious issue.
You mean making a smaller font to replace current big fonts? I will try that if I could figure out how to make hzk files.

28x25 is from official SoD. Have to respect that. It's how Chines H3 looks like. Don't attempt to change what players have been used to for 20 years (especially only just for suiting wog menu)

I mean, I thought this was much easier, and it turns out I was wrong. If it's taking too much effort for all of us, then we just ignore it. What do you think Rolleyes

Archer30, I edited plugin for Era and released WoG Chinese.exe mod. So you use it. I can change/recompile it to allow smaller fonts, probably, but we would need such font in the same format. So I added to TODO as possibile someday feature, but not prioritised task.

It means, that huge characters is not a big deal in other dialogs, where the same English bigfont2.fnt will be used. Thus it should be tolarable.

Thanks Berserker. This is not a task with high priority at all. If using medfont.fnt and hzk12 is possible for home page, then new font is not required, am I right?

igrik, нет. Я правил плагин в прошлом. Сейчас исправить вопрос можешь ты:

if (PluginExists('wogcn')) { fontName = 'medfont2.fnt' }
Тогда китайски плагин загрузит hzk12 и установит верные размеры шрифта.

Это такой временный хак.

Berserker, хорошо. Сделаю сегодня.
А может лучше закинуть название конкретно этого шрифта в мой текстовик? И при необходимости им легко можно будет управлять?
Это как временная, но очень гибкая мера

я согласен с igrik'ом, это более гибкий подход.
Я бы даже предложил в heroes3.ini вытащить (если нету) строку, где локализаторы сами будут указывать какой шрифт брать. Кто знает Unsure

I agree with igrik. Considering ERA might be spread to more regions and different compatibility issues might appear, writing parameter to text enables more flexibility.
Personally I prefer putting parameter into a file supported VFS, which can be put into a localization mod. This enables more convenience switching between languages as enable/disable localization mod is the only thing matters.

igrik, в json файл нужно. Это самое гибкое API для таких параметров, которые можно точечно перекрывать.

    "wog_options_dlg": {
    "intro_font": "bigfont2.fnt"
    }
}

Сюда же можно и остальные перенести. RoseKavalier уже json-перевод в плагинах вовсю использует.

Текстовик, ini и отдельный файл для каждого параметра — худшие решения.
